Ingredients
1 cup mayonnaise (full-fat recommended)
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon rice vinegar (unseasoned)
1-2 teaspoons granulated sugar (to taste)
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika (or a tiny squeeze of tomato paste, for color)
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a hint of heat)
Pinch of salt (to taste)
Instructions
Step 1: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, water, rice vinegar, granulated sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika (or tomato paste), and cayenne pepper (if using).
Step 2: Whisk all the ingredients together thoroughly until the mixture is completely smooth and well combined. Ensure there are no lumps of sugar or spices. The color should be a uniform pale orange-pink.
Step 3: Taste the sauce and adjust seasonings as needed. You might want to add a bit more sugar for sweetness, a pinch of salt to enhance the flavors, or more cayenne for heat.
Step 4: For best flavor, cover the bowl and refrigerate the yum yum sauce for at least 30 minutes before serving. This allows the flavors to meld and deepen. Store any leftover sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5-7 days.
Notes
For the best flavor, make this sauce at least 30 minutes in advance to allow the flavors to meld. If you prefer a thinner sauce, add a tiny bit more water, 1/2 teaspoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5-7 days.
