Beat the heat with this incredibly easy and delicious homemade watermelon slushie recipe. Made with just a few simple ingredients, it's the perfect refreshing drink for a hot summer day. Naturally sweet, hydrating, and customizable to your taste!

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

5 cups seedless watermelon, cut into 1-inch cubes and frozen
1-2 tablespoons fresh lime juice (from 1/2 to 1 lime), optional
1-3 tablespoons agave nectar, honey, or simple syrup, to taste (optional)
2-4 tablespoons cold water (only if needed for blending)

Instructions

Step 1: Cut the seedless watermelon into 1-inch cubes. Place the cubes in a single layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet or in a large freezer-safe container. Freeze for at least 2-4 hours, or until solid.
Step 2: Transfer the frozen watermelon cubes to a powerful blender. Add the fresh lime juice (if using) and your chosen sweetener, if desired. Start with a small amount of sweetener.
Step 3: Begin blending on a low speed, gradually increasing to high. Use the blender's tamper to push down the watermelon if it gets stuck, or stop and scrape down the sides with a rubber spatula. If the mixture is too thick to blend, add cold water one tablespoon at a time until it blends smoothly.
Step 4: Continue blending until the mixture is completely smooth and has a uniform, slushie-like consistency. Taste and adjust sweetness or add more lime juice if desired.
Step 5: Immediately pour the watermelon slushie into chilled glasses. Garnish with a fresh mint sprig or a lime wedge, if desired, and serve immediately for ultimate refreshment.

Notes

For the best flavor and texture, ensure your watermelon is perfectly ripe and sweet before freezing. Adjust sweetener and lime juice to your personal preference. This watermelon slushie is best served immediately.
