Ingredients
1 lb (450g) lean ground turkey (93% lean recommended)
¼ cup plain breadcrumbs
1 large egg
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
½ teaspoon dried parsley
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
1-2 teaspoons olive oil (for cooking)
4 burger buns (whole wheat or preferred)
Desired toppings (lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, cheese, sauces)
Instructions
Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, gently combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, dried parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix just until combined, being careful not to overmix.
Step 2: Divide the turkey mixture into four equal portions. Gently form each portion into a ¾-inch thick patty, about 4 inches in diameter. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent bulging during cooking.
Step 3: Heat a large non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat. Add 1-2 teaspoons of olive oil. If grilling outdoors, preheat your grill to medium-high and lightly oil the grates.
Step 4: Once the skillet is hot, carefully place the turkey patties in the pan, ensuring not to overcrowd it. Cook for 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center of the patty should register 165°F (74°C).
Step 5: Remove the cooked turkey burgers from the pan or grill and let them rest on a plate for 2-3 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, ensuring a juicier burger.
Step 6: Serve your flavorful turkey burgers on toasted buns with your favorite toppings and condiments. Enjoy your delicious turkey burger recipe!
Notes
For an extra kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the seasoning mix. To make it gluten-free, use gluten-free breadcrumbs and buns. This turkey burger recipe is excellent for meal prep; cook the patties ahead of time and store them in an airtight container.
