A vibrant and refreshing homemade strawberry lemonade recipe, bursting with fresh strawberries and zesty lemons, perfectly balancing sweet and tart for the ultimate summer drink.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes (+ chilling time)
  • Yield: 8 servings (approx. 2 quarts) 1x

Ingredients

Scale

2 cups fresh or frozen strawberries, hulled
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water (for simple syrup)
1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (from 4-6 lemons)
4 cups cold water (for mixing)
Ice, for serving
Fresh strawberry slices and lemon wedges, for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool completely.
Step 2: Wash 2 cups of fresh strawberries thoroughly, hull them, and slice them in half or quarters. If using frozen strawberries, ensure they are thawed.
Step 3: Place the prepared strawberries into a blender. Add about 1/4 cup of water to help them blend smoothly. Blend until you achieve a smooth puree. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve if you prefer a clearer lemonade.
Step 4: Juice enough fresh lemons to yield 1 cup of fresh lemon juice (approximately 4-6 medium lemons). Ensure no seeds are present.
Step 5: In a large pitcher or drink dispenser, combine the cooled simple syrup, the strawberry puree, and the fresh lemon juice. Stir well to thoroughly mix.
Step 6: Add 4 cups of cold water to the pitcher. Stir again. Taste the lemonade and adjust sweetness or tartness to your preference by adding more simple syrup or lemon juice.
Step 7: Chill the strawberry lemonade in the refrigerator for at least 1-2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld and ensure it's perfectly cold.
Step 8: Serve over ice, garnished with fresh strawberry slices, lemon wedges, and a sprig of fresh mint if desired. Enjoy your homemade strawberry lemonade!

Notes

For an extra boost of flavor, you can muddle a few fresh mint leaves with the strawberries before blending. This recipe yields a concentrate that is then diluted, allowing for perfect customization. Store any leftover lemonade in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
