2 oz (60ml) Blanco Tequila (100% agave)
1 oz (30ml) Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
0.75 oz (22ml) Orange Liqueur (e.g., Cointreau or good quality Triple Sec)
Ice
Lime wedge or wheel, for garnish
Flaky sea salt or margarita salt, for rim (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: If desired, prepare your glass: run a lime wedge around the rim of a margarita or rocks glass, then invert it onto a plate of flaky sea salt to coat the rim. Set aside.
Step 2: Combine tequila, fresh lime juice, and orange liqueur into a cocktail shaker.
Step 3: Fill the shaker two-thirds full with fresh ice.
Step 4: Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until the shaker is frosty cold.
Step 5: Fill your prepared glass with fresh ice. Strain the cocktail from the shaker into the glass.
Step 6: Garnish with a fresh lime wheel or wedge. Serve immediately and enjoy your simple margarita recipe!
Notes
For best results, use 100% agave blanco tequila and always use freshly squeezed lime juice. Adjust the orange liqueur slightly to your preferred sweetness. You can also make a batch of the liquid mix (without ice) ahead of time and store it in the fridge; just shake with ice before serving.
