Ingredients
2 oz (60ml) Blanco Tequila
1 oz (30ml) Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
1 oz (30ml) Cointreau (or other high-quality orange liqueur)
Lime wedge, for rimming and garnish
Coarse salt (kosher or sea salt), for rimming
Ice
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare your glass. Take a lime wedge and run it around the rim of your chosen margarita or rocks glass. On a small plate, spread a thin layer of flaky sea salt. Gently invert the glass and dip the rim into the salt, rotating to create an even, thin layer. Tap off any excess. Set aside.
Step 2: In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 oz of Blanco tequila, 1 oz of freshly squeezed lime juice, and 1 oz of Cointreau.
Step 3: Fill the cocktail shaker completely with ice cubes. Secure the lid tightly.
Step 4: Shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds, until the shaker is frosty cold on the outside.
Step 5: Strain the mixture into your prepared, salt-rimmed glass filled with fresh ice.
Step 6: Garnish with a fresh lime wheel or wedge. Serve immediately and enjoy your classic simple margarita recipe!
Notes
For the best results, always use freshly squeezed lime juice and a high-quality Blanco tequila. Adjust the amount of orange liqueur or add a touch of agave nectar if you prefer a sweeter drink. For a less intense salt rim, only salt half the rim of the glass.
