Ingredients
1/2 cup high-quality mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup whole buttermilk
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon dried dill weed (or 1 tablespoon fresh)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
1 teaspoon fresh chives, finely minced
1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
Instructions
Step 1: In a medium mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise and sour cream. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and no lumps remain.
Step 2: Slowly pour in the buttermilk while continuing to whisk. This ensures the base of your ranch dressing recipe is perfectly emulsified.
Step 3: Add the dried parsley, dill, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well to distribute the spices evenly.
Step 4: Fold in the fresh minced chives and lemon juice. The lemon juice helps brighten the flavors and cut through the richness of the dairy.
Step 5: Taste the dressing and adjust the salt or pepper if necessary. If you prefer a thinner consistency, add an extra tablespoon of buttermilk.
Step 6: Transfer the dressing to an airtight container and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Serve chilled.
Notes
For best results, use full-fat dairy. The dressing will thicken as it chills in the refrigerator.
