Ingredients
35 Oreo cookies, divided
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
8 ounces (1 block) full-fat cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 packages (3.9 oz each) instant chocolate pudding mix
3 cups cold whole milk
4 cups thawed whipped topping (like Cool Whip), divided
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Oreo Crust. Take 30-35 Oreo cookies and finely crush them. In a medium bowl, combine the crushed Oreos with 1/2 cup of melted unsalted butter. Mix thoroughly until all crumbs are moistened.
Step 2: Press the Crust into the Pan. Transfer the Oreo mixture to a 9-inch pie dish or a 9x13-inch baking dish. Firmly press the mixture evenly across the bottom and slightly up the sides of the dish. Chill in the freezer for 10-15 minutes while preparing the filling.
Step 3: Prepare the Cream Cheese Layer. In a large mixing bowl, beat 8 ounces of softened cream cheese with 1/2 cup of granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and mix until just combined.
Step 4: Incorporate the Chocolate Pudding. In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 packages of instant chocolate pudding mix with 3 cups of cold milk for about 2 minutes until thickened. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes to become fully set.
Step 5: Combine Layers for the Mud Pie Filling. Gently fold the prepared chocolate pudding into the cream cheese mixture until thoroughly combined and smooth. Then, gently fold in 1 cup of thawed whipped topping until just blended.
Step 6: Assemble the Pie. Pour the chocolate cream cheese filling over the chilled Oreo crust, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
Step 7: Add the Final Whipped Topping Layer. Spread the remaining 3 cups of thawed whipped topping evenly over the chocolate filling.
Step 8: Garnish and Chill. Crush 5-6 additional Oreo cookies and sprinkle them generously over the top of the whipped topping. Cover loosely and refrigerate for at least 4-6 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the pie to set completely.
Step 9: Serve and Enjoy! Once thoroughly chilled, slice the Oreo Mud Pie Flavor pie and serve cold for a delightful dessert experience.
