Ingredients
1 cup mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries), frozen
1/2 cup cold water or fruit juice (cranberry, apple, or white grape)
1-2 tablespoons granulated sugar, honey, or maple syrup (optional, to taste)
1/2 cup ice cubes (if needed for thicker consistency)
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (optional, for brightness)
Instructions
Step 1: Add the frozen mixed berries to your Ninja blender cup or pitcher.
Step 2: Pour in the cold water or fruit juice. Start with 1/2 cup.
Step 3: Add the optional granulated sugar, honey, or other sweetener (1-2 tablespoons, to taste).
Step 4: If desired, add 1 tablespoon of fresh lemon juice for extra brightness.
Step 5: Add about 1/2 cup of ice cubes to achieve the classic slushie consistency.
Step 6: Secure the lid on your Ninja blender and place it onto the base. Use the slushie or ice-crush setting if available, or start with 'Pulse'.
Step 7: Blend continuously until the mixture is smooth and has a uniform icy consistency. Stop and scrape down the sides with a spatula if necessary. If too thick, add liquid 1 tablespoon at a time. If too thin, add more ice or frozen berries.
Step 8: Taste the slushie and adjust sweetness if needed. Blend again briefly after any adjustments.
Step 9: Pour your freshly made slushie into chilled glasses. Garnish with fresh berries or a lemon slice, and serve immediately.
Notes
For an extra cold slushie, pre-chill your blender pitcher and serving glasses. Adjust sweetener to your preference and the natural sweetness of your berries. For a creamier texture, add a splash of milk or yogurt.
