The perfect refreshing classic Mojito cocktail, muddled with fresh mint, lime, sugar, white rum, and topped with sparkling club soda.

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Ingredients

Scale

8-10 fresh mint leaves
2 lime wedges (from about 1/4 of a lime)
2 teaspoons granulated sugar (or 1/2 oz simple syrup)
2 ounces (60ml) white rum
Club soda, to top
Crushed ice
Fresh mint sprig and lime wedge, for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: In a sturdy highball or Collins glass, add the fresh mint leaves, lime wedges, and granulated sugar.
Step 2: Gently muddle the ingredients. Press down and twist lightly a few times to release the oils from the mint and juice from the limes, and to dissolve the sugar. Be careful not to over-muddle, which can make the mint taste bitter.
Step 3: Pour the white rum into the glass over the muddled mixture.
Step 4: Fill the glass nearly to the top with crushed ice.
Step 5: Top off the glass with club soda, filling it almost to the brim.
Step 6: Gently stir the drink from bottom to top with a long spoon to combine all the flavors without deflating the carbonation.
Step 7: Garnish with a fresh mint sprig (clapped between your palms to release aroma) and a lime wedge. Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing mojito recipe!

Notes

Always use fresh ingredients for the best flavor. Adjust the amount of sugar or simple syrup to suit your personal sweetness preference. If you don't have crushed ice, you can make your own by placing ice cubes in a Ziploc bag and gently crushing them with a rolling pin.
