Ingredients
1-2 tsp ceremonial grade matcha powder
2 oz hot water (around 175°F/80°C)
6-8 oz milk of choice (dairy or non-dairy)
1-2 tsp sweetener (maple syrup, honey, agave, or sugar)
Ice cubes
Instructions
Step 1: Sift the matcha powder into a small bowl or matcha ceremonial bowl. This prevents clumps and ensures a smooth latte.
Step 2: Add the hot (not boiling) water to the matcha powder.
Step 3: Whisk vigorously using a bamboo whisk (chasen) or a small electric whisk until the matcha is fully dissolved and a fine, frothy layer forms on top. Ensure there are no lumps.
Step 4: If using, stir in your preferred sweetener until fully dissolved in the warm matcha mixture.
Step 5: Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
Step 6: Pour your milk of choice over the ice.
Step 7: Gently pour the prepared matcha mixture over the milk and ice. Stir lightly before enjoying your delicious iced matcha latte.
Notes
For the best results, always use high-quality ceremonial grade matcha. Adjust sweetener to taste. For a creamier texture, warm your milk slightly before pouring it over ice or use a milk frother.
