No reviews

A smooth, creamy, and vibrant matcha recipe that balances the earthy notes of Japanese green tea with silky steamed milk.

  • Total Time: 5 minutes
  • Yield: 1 serving 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1.5 tsp Ceremonial Grade Matcha powder
2 oz hot water (175°F/80°C)
8 oz oat milk (or milk of choice)
1 tsp honey or maple syrup (optional)
A pinch of cinnamon (optional garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Sift the matcha powder through a fine-mesh strainer into a small bowl or chawan to remove all lumps.
Step 2: Add 2 ounces of hot water (ensure it is not boiling, ideally 175°F) to the matcha powder.
Step 3: Using a bamboo whisk, whisk vigorously in a 'W' or 'M' motion for about 30-60 seconds until a thick, frothy foam forms on top.
Step 4: If using a sweetener, stir in the honey or maple syrup now while the matcha is still warm.
Step 5: Heat your milk in a small saucepan or use a milk frother until it is warm and bubbly.
Step 6: Pour the warm milk into a mug, then slowly pour the whisked matcha over the top. Garnish with a pinch of cinnamon if desired.

Notes

Always use ceremonial grade for the best flavor. Avoid boiling water to prevent bitterness.
