Ingredients
1 lb fresh asparagus, woody ends snapped off
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
1/2 tsp sea salt, or to taste
1/4 tsp freshly ground black pepper, or to taste
1/2 lemon, for juice and optional zest
Instructions
Step 1: Rinse the asparagus under cold water and pat thoroughly dry with a clean kitchen towel. Snap off the woody ends of each spear.
Step 2: Place the dried asparagus in a large bowl. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper. Toss gently with your hands until every spear is evenly coated.
Step 3: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat (400-450°F / 200-230°C). Ensure grates are clean and lightly oiled to prevent sticking.
Step 4: Arrange the seasoned asparagus in a single layer on the hot grill grates, perpendicular to the grates. Close the lid and grill for 4-7 minutes, turning once halfway through, until bright green, tender-crisp, and lightly charred.
Step 5: Immediately transfer the grilled asparagus to a serving platter. Squeeze fresh lemon juice generously over the hot asparagus. Serve warm.
Notes
For extra flavor, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese or a dash of red pepper flakes immediately after grilling. Store leftovers in airtight containers for up to 3 days.
