Discover the ultimate gluten free pizza crust recipe that's perfectly chewy, crispy, and holds up to all your favorite toppings. Say goodbye to dry, crumbly crusts and hello to delicious homemade pizza!

  • Total Time: 1 hour 35 minutes
  • Yield: 1 large (12-14 inch) pizza crust 1x

Ingredients

Scale

1 cup warm water (105-115°F / 40-46°C)
1 tsp granulated sugar
2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast (1 standard packet)
2 cups gluten-free all-purpose flour blend (with xanthan gum)
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp olive oil, plus more for greasing
1/2 tsp apple cider vinegar

Instructions

Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm water and sugar. Sprinkle the active dry yeast over the top. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until foamy. This confirms your yeast is active.
Step 2: Add the gluten-free all-purpose flour blend, salt, olive oil, and apple cider vinegar to the yeast mixture. Mix with a sturdy spoon or stand mixer with a paddle attachment until a soft, sticky dough forms. Don't overmix.
Step 3: Lightly oil a clean bowl. Transfer the dough to the oiled bowl, turning to coat. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for 45-60 minutes, or until it has noticeably increased in size (it won't double like wheat dough).
Step 4: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) with a pizza stone or baking sheet inside. Let it preheat for at least 30 minutes for best results.
Step 5: Turn the risen dough out onto a piece of parchment paper lightly dusted with gluten-free flour. Gently press and stretch the dough into your desired pizza shape (round or rectangular, 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick for a 12-14 inch crust). If the dough is too sticky, lightly oil your hands. Create a slightly thicker edge for the crust.
Step 6: Transfer the parchment paper with the dough onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the crust is slightly golden and firm enough to handle. This par-baking step helps create a crispy base for your gluten free pizza crust recipe.
Step 7: Remove the crust from the oven. Add your favorite pizza sauce, cheese, and toppings. Return the pizza to the oven and bake for another 7-10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the crust is golden brown and cooked through.
Step 8: Carefully remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a few minutes before slicing, and enjoy your delicious homemade gluten free pizza crust recipe!

Notes

For best results, use a high-quality gluten-free all-purpose flour blend that contains xanthan gum. If your blend does not include xanthan gum, add 1/2-1 teaspoon per cup of flour. You can prepare the dough ahead of time and refrigerate it for up to 24 hours after the first rise. Bring to room temperature before shaping and baking.
