Ingredients
2 oz (60ml) 100% Agave Tequila (Blanco or Reposado)
1 oz (30ml) Freshly squeezed lime juice (from about 1-2 limes)
0.75 oz (22ml) Cointreau or high-quality Triple Sec
0.5 oz (15ml) Agave nectar or simple syrup (adjust to taste)
Ice
Coarse sea salt or kosher salt (for rim, optional)
Lime wedge or wheel (for garnish)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare your glass. If desired, rim a chilled margarita or coupe glass with salt. To do this, run a lime wedge around the rim of the glass, then dip the rim into a shallow plate of coarse salt. Set aside.
Step 2: Combine ingredients in a shaker. In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, fresh lime juice, orange liqueur (Cointreau or Triple Sec), and agave nectar/simple syrup.
Step 3: Add ice and shake. Fill the shaker about two-thirds full with ice. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds, until the shaker is thoroughly chilled.
Step 4: Strain and serve. Strain the fresh margarita recipe mixture into your prepared glass filled with fresh ice.

Notes
