A quick and elegant way to enjoy seasonal figs. Roasted with honey and stuffed with creamy goat cheese, this is the ultimate simple dessert or appetizer.

  • Total Time: PT25M
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

12 fresh Black Mission or Brown Turkey figs
4 oz creamy goat cheese (chèvre)
3 tablespoons high-quality honey
1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt
1 tablespoon balsamic glaze (optional)
2 tablespoons crushed pistachios (optional)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a small baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
Step 2: Clean the figs with a damp paper towel and trim the very tip of the stems if they are excessively woody.
Step 3: Cut a deep 'X' into the top of each fig, stopping about halfway down so the fruit stays intact at the base.
Step 4: Use your thumb or a small spoon to gently open the 'X' and stuff about 1 teaspoon of goat cheese into the center of each fig.
Step 5: Arrange the figs upright on the prepared baking sheet and drizzle the honey evenly over the tops of the fruit and cheese.
Step 6: Bake for 12-15 minutes until the figs are soft and the honey is bubbling and slightly caramelized.
Step 7: Remove from the oven, sprinkle with sea salt, and drizzle with balsamic glaze or nuts if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

Ensure figs are ripe but firm enough to stand up. If the figs are very large, increase roasting time by 2 minutes.
