Ingredients
1/2 cup unsalted butter
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup whole milk
2 cups sliced peaches (fresh, canned, or frozen)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the butter in a 9x13 inch baking dish and put it in the oven to melt.
Step 2: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour and sugar. Stir in the milk and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth.
Step 3: Remove the hot baking dish from the oven. Pour the batter directly over the melted butter. Do not stir.
Step 4: Spoon the sliced peaches (and syrup if using canned) evenly over the batter. Again, do not stir. Sprinkle the top with cinnamon.
Step 5: Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the peaches are bubbling. Serve warm.
Notes
If using canned peaches, use the ones in light syrup for the best flavor balance. If using fresh peaches, toss them with 2 tablespoons of sugar before adding to the dish.
