Discover how to make the perfectly balanced and refreshing classic margarita at home with just a few fresh ingredients. This is one of the best easy margarita recipes you'll find, ideal for any occasion.

  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 2 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

4 oz (1/2 cup) Blanco Tequila (100% agave)
2 oz (4 tablespoons) Fresh Lime Juice (from 2-3 limes)
1.5 oz (3 tablespoons) Orange Liqueur (Cointreau, Triple Sec, or Grand Marnier)
0.5 - 1 oz (1-2 tablespoons) Agave Nectar or Simple Syrup (to taste)
Ice, for shaking and serving
Flaky Sea Salt or Margarita Salt, for rim (optional)
Lime wheels or wedges, for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Gather all your tools and ingredients, including a cocktail shaker, jigger, citrus juicer, glasses, and ice. Have your tequila, fresh limes, orange liqueur, and agave nectar ready.
Step 2: If desired, prepare your glass by rimming it with salt. Pour salt onto a small plate. Run a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then invert and gently press into the salt, twisting to coat evenly. Set aside.
Step 3: Cut your fresh limes in half and use a citrus juicer to extract approximately 2 ounces (4 tablespoons) of juice. Strain out any seeds or pulp for a smoother drink.
Step 4: Fill your cocktail shaker about two-thirds full with ice. Add 4 ounces of Blanco Tequila, 2 ounces of fresh lime juice, 1.5 ounces of orange liqueur, and 0.5-1 ounce of agave nectar or simple syrup (adjust to your preferred sweetness).
Step 5: Secure the lid on your shaker and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds, or until the outside of the shaker is frosty, indicating the drink is perfectly chilled and diluted.
Step 6: Fill your prepared, salted glasses with fresh ice. Strain the margarita mixture from the shaker into the glasses. Garnish each with a fresh lime wheel or wedge and serve immediately.

Notes

For the best flavor, always use 100% agave Blanco tequila and freshly squeezed lime juice. Adjust the amount of agave nectar to suit your taste, making it as sweet or tart as you prefer. If batching for a crowd, keep the mixture chilled and shake individual portions with fresh ice just before serving.
