Ingredients
2 oz (60ml) 100% Agave Tequila (Blanco or Reposado)
1 oz (30ml) Freshly squeezed lime juice (about 1.5 limes)
1 oz (30ml) Orange Liqueur (Cointreau or Grand Marnier recommended)
Lime wedge or wheel, for garnish
Flaky sea salt or Margarita salt, for rimming (optional)
Ice
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare Your Glass. Take a lime wedge and run it around the rim of your preferred margarita or coupe glass. On a small plate, spread out some flaky sea salt or Margarita salt. Invert the glass and gently press the rim into the salt to coat evenly. Set aside.
Step 2: Combine Ingredients. In a cocktail shaker, combine the tequila, fresh lime juice, and orange liqueur.
Step 3: Add Ice and Shake. Fill the cocktail shaker about two-thirds full with fresh ice. Secure the lid tightly and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds, until the shaker is frosty to the touch.
Step 4: Strain and Serve. Remove the lid from the shaker and strain the chilled mixture into your prepared, salted glass. Garnish with a fresh lime wedge or a thin lime wheel. Serve immediately and enjoy your classic margarita recipe!
Notes
For the best flavor, always use freshly squeezed lime juice and a high-quality 100% agave tequila. Adjust the sweetness to your liking by slightly reducing or increasing the orange liqueur.
