Ingredients
1 cup cold whole milk (or 2% milk, or plant-based milk)
1/2 cup unsweetened Dutch-processed cocoa powder
1/4 cup granulated sugar (or more, to taste)
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
2-3 cups ice cubes (start with 2, add more for thicker consistency)
Instructions
Step 1: Pour the cold milk and vanilla extract into a high-speed blender.
Step 2: Add the unsweetened cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and the pinch of salt to the blender.
Step 3: Add 2 cups of ice cubes to the blender. Secure the lid.
Step 4: Start blending on low speed, gradually increasing to high. Use a tamper if your blender has one to push the ingredients towards the blades, ensuring everything blends smoothly.
Step 5: Continue blending until the mixture is completely smooth, thick, and no ice chunks remain. It should be the consistency of a very thick milkshake or soft-serve ice cream. If it's too thick, add a tablespoon of milk at a time; if too thin, add more ice cubes and blend again.
Step 6: Pour the chocolate frosty immediately into chilled glasses.
Step 7: Serve with a spoon or wide straw and enjoy your perfect homemade frosty recipe!
Notes
For an even richer chocolate flavor, you can use a combination of unsweetened cocoa powder and a small amount of dark chocolate syrup. Adjust sugar to your preference; for a less sweet frosty, reduce the granulated sugar or use a sugar substitute. A high-speed blender is highly recommended for the smoothest consistency.
