Ingredients
1 large whole dill pickle (such as Big Papa or Van Holten's)
1/2 cup chamoy sauce (e.g., El Chilerito, Tajín Chamoy)
2-3 tablespoons Tajín Clásico seasoning
Optional: Assorted sour candies (e.g., Sour Patch Kids, sour gummy worms, Takis Fuego strips) to fill the pickle
Instructions
Step 1: Carefully remove the whole dill pickle from its brine and gently pat it dry with a paper towel. This step helps the chamoy adhere better.
Step 2: Using a sharp paring knife or a pickle corer, carefully hollow out the center of the pickle lengthwise, leaving about 1/2 to 1 inch of pickle flesh around the edges. Be careful not to break through the pickle wall, creating a clean cavity.
Step 3: Pour a generous amount of chamoy sauce into the hollowed-out pickle. You can use a small spoon or a squeeze bottle for more precision. Fill the cavity as much as you desire.
Step 4: If using, carefully insert your preferred sour candies or other fillings into the chamoy-filled cavity. Push them down gently so they are submerged in the chamoy.
Step 5: Place the chamoy-filled pickle onto a plate or cutting board. Drizzle additional chamoy sauce over the entire outside of the pickle, ensuring it is fully coated.
Step 6: Liberally sprinkle Tajín Clásico seasoning over the chamoy-coated pickle. Rotate the pickle to ensure an even coating on all sides. The Tajín will stick perfectly to the chamoy.
Step 7: For the best flavor, cover the Chamoy Pickle and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld and the chamoy to soak into the pickle. For an even more intense experience, chill overnight.
Step 8: Serve your delicious Chamoy Pickle whole or slice it into thick rounds for easier consumption. Enjoy this bold, tangy, sweet, and spicy viral snack!
Notes
For the best flavor, allow the chamoy-filled pickle to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or even overnight. This allows the flavors to truly meld and deepen. You can also experiment with different types of sour candies or even add a shot of hot sauce inside for an extra kick.
