Ingredients
1 dozen large eggs
8 slices bacon, cooked crispy
12 breakfast sausage links or patties, cooked
2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
1 cup sliced melon (cantaloupe, honeydew)
1 cup grapes
2 kiwis, sliced
1 large croissant, sliced
4 mini muffins (blueberry, banana nut)
4 bagels, sliced
8 slices artisan bread (sourdough or multi-grain)
4 oz cream cheese, softened
4 oz unsalted butter, softened
1/4 cup assorted jams/preserves
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup maple syrup
4 oz hard cheese (cheddar, Swiss), sliced or cubed
4 slices deli ham or turkey, rolled
Optional: Smoked salmon, capers, red onion, fresh dill for savory additions
Optional: Small bowls of nuts (almonds, walnuts) for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Cook the eggs. You can scramble, hard-boil, or prepare them as desired. If scrambling, keep warm in a small, covered dish. If hard-boiling, cool and peel them.
Step 2: Cook bacon until crispy and sausage links/patties until thoroughly cooked. Drain excess fat and keep warm, or allow to cool slightly if serving at room temperature.
Step 3: Wash and prepare all fruits. Slice larger fruits like strawberries, melon, and kiwi. Arrange mixed berries, grapes, and sliced fruits into appealing clusters or small bowls.
Step 4: Arrange the breads and pastries. Place sliced croissants, mini muffins, sliced bagels, and artisan bread slices strategically around your chosen board or platter. You may overlap slightly for a bountiful look.
Step 5: Prepare spreads and dips. Spoon softened cream cheese, butter, assorted jams, honey, and maple syrup into small ramekins or serving bowls. Place these amongst the bread items.
Step 6: Add the cheeses and deli meats. Slice or cube hard cheeses and arrange them on the board. Roll slices of deli ham or turkey and place them near the bread and cheese.
Step 7: Incorporate the cooked proteins. Artfully arrange the warm bacon, sausage, and eggs on designated areas of the board. If using smoked salmon, arrange it with capers, red onion, and dill.
Step 8: Fill in any empty spaces with optional garnishes like nuts or sprigs of fresh herbs (e.g., mint with fruit, chives with eggs) to enhance the visual appeal of your breakfast board.
Step 9: Ensure serving utensils (tongs, spoons, small knives) are readily available. Serve immediately and enjoy your ultimate customizable breakfast board!
Notes
Feel free to customize your breakfast board with your family's favorite items! Hard-boiled eggs can be prepared up to 3 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator. Most fruits can be washed and prepped a day ahead. For a truly stress-free morning, cook bacon and sausage the day before and reheat gently just before serving.
