  • Total Time: PT1H15M
  • Yield: 1 loaf (10 servings) 1x

Ingredients

Scale

3 very ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup chopped walnuts, toasted

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5 inch loaf pan.
Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth but slightly chunky.
Step 3: Stir the melted butter into the mashed bananas until well combined.
Step 4: Mix in the granulated sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract.
Step 5: Sprinkle the baking soda and salt over the mixture and stir in.
Step 6: Gently fold in the all-purpose flour until just combined—do not overmix.
Step 7: Fold in the toasted chopped walnuts.
Step 8: Pour the batter into your prepared loaf pan and bake for 55 to 65 minutes.
Step 9: Test for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center; it should come out clean.
Step 10: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Always use bananas with plenty of black spots for the best flavor and moisture.
