An elegant and surprisingly simple dish featuring tender baked pears, salty crumbled feta, and a tantalizing drizzle of spicy-sweet hot honey. Perfect as an appetizer, side dish, or light dessert.

  • Total Time: 35 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings (8 pear halves) 1x

Ingredients

Scale

4 firm-ripe pears (Bosc, Anjou, or Bartlett recommended)
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 oz (113g) block of feta cheese, crumbled
2-3 tablespoons hot honey (store-bought or homemade)
Optional: fresh thyme sprigs, chopped walnuts, or balsamic glaze for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
Step 2: Wash the pears thoroughly. Carefully halve each pear lengthwise. Using a small spoon or melon baller, scoop out the core and any seeds from the center of each pear half.
Step 3: Arrange the pear halves, cut-side up, on the prepared baking sheet. Drizzle them lightly with olive oil, ensuring each pear half is coated.
Step 4: Generously crumble the feta cheese into the hollowed-out cavity of each pear half. You can gently press it down to fit more.
Step 5: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pears are tender when pierced with a fork but still hold their shape. The feta should be warm and slightly softened.
Step 6: Carefully remove the Baked Pears with Feta & Hot Honey from the oven. Immediately drizzle each pear half generously with hot honey. Serve warm.

Notes

To make your own hot honey: Gently heat 1/2 cup of honey in a small saucepan over low heat. Add 1-2 teaspoons of red pepper flakes (or more for extra heat). Simmer for 5-10 minutes, then let cool completely. Strain the flakes if desired, or leave them in for a rustic look. Store in an airtight container at room temperature. This recipe for Baked Pears with Feta & Hot Honey is best served warm.
