A quick and easy recipe for perfectly tender-crisp apples sautéed with butter, warm cinnamon, and pure maple syrup. Ready in just 10 minutes, these versatile apples are perfect as a dessert, breakfast topping, or savory side.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

4 medium apples (Fuji, Honeycrisp, Gala, or a mix with Granny Smith)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter (or vegan butter)
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Pinch of ground nutmeg
1/4 cup pure maple syrup (Grade A Dark, Robust Taste preferred)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

Step 1: Wash, core, and slice the apples into uniform 1/4 to 1/2-inch thick pieces. Peeling is optional.
Step 2: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter until shimmering.
Step 3: Add the sliced apples to the skillet. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg. Toss gently to coat the apples evenly.
Step 4: Sauté for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples begin to soften but still retain a slight bite.
Step 5: Pour in the pure maple syrup and add the vanilla extract. Stir well to combine, coating all the apple slices.
Step 6: Continue to cook for another 2-3 minutes, allowing the syrup to warm through and slightly thicken into a glossy sauce.
Step 7: Taste and adjust seasonings if desired. Serve immediately, warm, as a delicious treat or accompaniment.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use Grade A Dark, Robust Taste maple syrup. If doubling the recipe, sauté apples in two batches to avoid overcrowding the pan and ensure even cooking. Best served fresh and warm!
