A incredibly simple and delicious pulled bbq chicken recipe for crock pot that uses only a few ingredients to create tender, juicy, and flavorful chicken perfect for sandwiches, salads, and more.

  • Total Time: PT6H10M
  • Yield: 8 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

2.5 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts (about 4-5 large breasts)
1.5 cups of your favorite BBQ sauce
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

Step 1: Season the chicken breasts on both sides with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
Step 2: Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the bottom of the crock pot, ensuring they are spread out evenly.
Step 3: In a small bowl, whisk together the BBQ sauce, apple cider vinegar, and Worcestershire sauce.
Step 4: Pour the sauce mixture over the chicken, making sure each piece is completely covered.
Step 5: Cover and cook on Low for 6 to 7 hours or on High for 3 to 4 hours until the chicken is tender and easily pulls apart.
Step 6: Remove the chicken from the crock pot and place it in a large bowl. Use two forks or a hand mixer to shred the meat.
Step 7: Return the shredded chicken to the crock pot and stir it into the juices and sauce. Let it rest on the warm setting for 10-15 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, use a high-quality BBQ sauce. If the sauce is too thin after shredding, you can whisk in a teaspoon of cornstarch mixed with water and cook on high for another 20 minutes.
