Ingredients
14 oz extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed
1/4 cup cornstarch
2 tbsp vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
1/4 cup honey
3 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tsp toasted sesame oil
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
Green onions and sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
Step 1: Press the tofu for at least 20 minutes to remove excess water, then cut into 1-inch cubes.
Step 2: In a medium bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch until evenly coated, shaking off any excess.
Step 3: Heat oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add tofu in a single layer and fry until golden and crispy on all sides (about 8-10 minutes).
Step 4: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil.
Step 5: Push the tofu to the sides of the pan and add the minced garlic and ginger to the center. Sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
Step 6: Pour the sauce mixture over the tofu and stir to coat. Simmer for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens and becomes sticky.
Step 7: Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
Notes
Always use extra-firm tofu for the best results. Pressing is essential for the crunch.
