Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 large eggs, room temperature
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
Instructions
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
Step 3: Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
Step 4: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
Step 5: Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing at low speed just until combined. Do not overmix.
Step 6: Fold in the chocolate chips using a spatula or wooden spoon.
Step 7: Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough (about 2 tablespoons each) onto the prepared baking sheets, spaced 2 inches apart.
Step 8: Bake for 9 to 11 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden but the centers still look slightly underbaked.
Step 9: Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For extra soft cookies, do not overbake. They should look slightly pale in the center when you pull them out of the oven.
