Ingredients
1 lb lump crab meat, picked through for shells
1/2 cup Panko breadcrumbs
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
1/2 teaspoon lemon zest
Olive oil spray for the basket
Instructions
Step 1: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, egg, Dijon mustard, Old Bay seasoning, Worcestershire sauce, lemon zest, and parsley until smooth.
Step 2: Gently fold in the lump crab meat and Panko breadcrumbs. Be careful not to overmix, as you want to keep those large lumps of crab intact for the best air fryer crab bites texture.
Step 3: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 30 minutes to help the air fryer crab bites hold their shape.
Step 4: Pre-heat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Use a tablespoon or a small scoop to form the mixture into 1-inch balls, pressing gently to compact them.
Step 5: Lightly grease the air fryer basket with oil spray. Place the air fryer crab bites in a single layer, ensuring they are not touching.
Step 6: Air fry the crab bites for 8 to 10 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy. There is no need to flip them, but you can lightly spray the tops with oil halfway through for extra crunch.
Step 7: Serve your hot air fryer crab bites immediately with lemon wedges and your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
Ensure the crab meat is well-drained to prevent the bites from becoming too mushy. Chilling the mix is the key to success!
